Need

In any organization, a positive attitude and high motivation are essential for driving performance and achieving goals. A lack of motivation can lead to disengagement, missed deadlines, and an overall decrease in productivity. Additionally, negativity can spread within teams, affecting morale and creating a toxic work environment.

Positivity and Motivation are psychological phenomena that can be developed for individuals as well as teams through proper training. And still many organizations, though feel that it can be theoretically possible, but definitely are not going for it to develop positivity and motivation as a real-time work culture. Largely because, they have mentally started accepting such negative environments as “that is how it will be”. And hence, they are surviving with the adverse effects that are eating them like a parasite.

Some adverse effects of low positivity and motivation include:

  • Decreased Productivity: Employees may feel uninspired, disengaged, reluctant and devoid of drive leading to lower output and lacklustre results.
  • Increased Attrition and Absenteeism: A lack of engagement often results in employees taking unnecessary leave or becoming less committed towards work or quitting the job. This greatly affects the overall productivity leading to unmet commitments and business losses.
  • High Stress and Burnout: When motivation is low, individuals may feel overwhelmed, leading to higher levels of stress and burnout. This consequently affects focus, steadfastness and perfection leading to higher defects/ delays in processes.
  • Poor Work Relationships: Negative energy can create conflicts, reducing teamwork and cooperation affecting the overall collaboration, resulting in higher chaos, nexus building, ball passing and blame games, which are all unwarranted for an organization that aims higher growth.

Positivity and motivation, being psychological phenomena, can be ignited through right interventions, however worse the situation may be.
